The Honors Program is a rigorous academic program for students interested in transferring to competitive colleges and universities. The program is designed to provide a challenging and demanding academic curriculum for high-achieving talented students. The academic curriculum is characterized by questioning, inquiry, and creative exploration. Students must complete a minimum of four general education Honors Program courses and a Capstone Research Project under the tutelage of a Faculty Mentor.

    New Students:

  • Placed in the top 10% high school rankor
  • A SAT score of 1650 (minimum of 550 verbal, 550 mathematics, and essay 9)
    Continuing Students:

  • GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Completed at least 12 college credits and no more than 24 credits
  • Prepared to take ENG 102 and HST 102 (Spring Semester)
  • Students must maintain a 3.5 GPA to remain in the Program


Fall: ENG 101 – English Composition I, HST 101 – World Civilization I
Spring: ENG 102 – English Composition II, HST 102 – World Civilization II


Fall: ENG 215 – English Literature, SOC 108 – Social Problems
Spring: Capstone Research Project

  • A 325-word essay in which you describe the significance of your most notable high school or college learning experience
  • Two letters of recommendation from faculty or teachers with whom you have studied.
