The area of Business, Industry & Government (B.I.G.) encompasses the division of Business, the Urban Issues Institute and The College Success Seminar
The Business Division offers A.S. degree programs transferrable to top quality four-year institutions such as Rutgers, NJIT, Montclair State University, and Seton Hall University & Kean University. A.S. degree program graduates have been accepted to institutions such as Columbia University & New York University to name a few.
Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP)
All academic programs at Essex County College are fully accredited by the Middle States Commission of Higher Education. In addition the following business degree programs are accredited by the ACBSP: A.S. Business Administration, A.S. Accounting, A.A.S. Business Administration, A.A.S. Accounting. The faculty of the Business Division have diverse academic and professional backgrounds including years of corporate executive, business ownership experience as well as many with earned doctorates in their field.
We are dedicated to preparing our graduates to be highly competitive in their chosen professional field and providing them the tools to set and achieve their academic and personal goals.
The Urban Issues Institute explores urban challenges and opportunities in areas such as urban education, civic responsibility, entrepreneurship, hip hop culture, poverty, crime, immigration, homelessness, health & other topics. ECC students and alumni work with faculty, scholars, civic leaders, artists and other stakeholders to promote common initiatives and foster lasting, effective positive change. The College Success Seminar crosses all academic programs & majors which prepare all first-time college students for college life. The course offers critical information that promotes goal-oriented behavior that reinforces self-assessment, self-management, retention and graduation. All entering students are strongly encouraged and advised to complete The College Success Seminar in the first semester.
