Over the last two years, Coach Jean-Paul has assisted with a renaissance of Essex County College Wolverine basketball. Over the last two seasons, the Wolverines have an overall record of 44-15. The Wolverines have dominated Region 19 over that span, going 31-1. The Wolverines reached the Region 19 championship game in the 2011-2012 season.
The 2012-2013 Wolverines finished the season with an overall record of 25-8 and an undefeated mark of 16-0 in Region 19. They went on to win the Region 19 tournament and receive a bid to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament in Danville, Illinois. In addition, nine student-athletes have gone on to continue their education and basketball careers at four-year colleges.
During the 2009-2010 season, Coach Jean-Paul was an assistant coach at Middlesex County College and helped lead the Blue Colts to a semifinal berth in the Garden State Athletic Conference, Region 19 playoffs.
From 2004-2009 and the 2010-2011 season, he was an Assistant Varsity Coach at his alma mater St. Mary’s High School in Elizabeth. During his tenure at St. Mary’s, the varsity program had a record of 87-54, won two Mountain Valley Conference titles and helped send over 15 student-athletes to the collegiate level to play basketball. He served as the head freshman coach from 2004-2006 and the head junior varsity coach during 2006-2007 season.
Coach Jean-Paul graduated from Rutgers University in 1999 with a degree in Journalism. He is the Director of Admissions at St. Mary’s High School and currently resides in Elizabeth.
