Coach Kalola graduated in 2001 from Piscataway High School, where he earned 9 varsity letters in 4 different sports. He went on to join the basketball program at Rutgers University as a student manager. Coach Kalola served as an integral part to the Rutgers men’s basketball program throughout his undergraduate days. He earned his dual degree in Exercise Science/Sport Studies and Psychology in 2005 and after graduation Coach Kalola joined the coaching staff at Rutgers. He assisted with the day-to-day operations of the Division I Big East Program, including recruiting/scouting, practice/game planning, video filming/editing, and camps/clinics. Coach Kalola continued his coaching career in 2008 as the Head Freshman Boy’s basketball coach at Union High School. During his final season at Union, he led his team to the championship game of the freshman post season tournament.
Last season as an assistant at Essex County College, Coach Kalola helped the Wolverines to a 25-8 overall record and a regular season Region 19 and Garden State Athletic Conference championship. Only sixteen teams advance and Coach Kalola helped lead the Wolverines to Nationals played in Danville, Illinois. Currently, Coach Kalola teaches third grade at Franklin Elementary School in Union Township, New Jersey. Coach Kalola is a native of and resides in Piscataway, NJ with his wife Pinki Kalola.
