FAQs: SUMMER I 2014 ELIGIBILITY OF FINANCIAL AID

How do I apply for aid for Summer I 2014?
To be considered for aid for Summer I 2014 you must:

  • First, register for classes. We only award funds to students who are registered. The amount awarded will be based on your enrollment status.
  • Have a 2013-2014 FAFSA on file in the Office of Financial Aid.
  • Have submitted all required documents and forms requested by the Office of Financial Aid
  • Be in good academic standing based on financial aid regulations for ECC financial aid students.

Will there be aid for Summer I 2014?
Yes. Aid will be very limited. Available funds for Summer I 2014 are the Pell Grant for those who have funds remaining from Pell and Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG).

 

How do I qualify for Pell or SEOG?
Pell: If you were full-time for Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 and received Pell at ECC or any college, you will not be eligible for Pell for Summer I 2014.

SEOG: To be considered for SEOG funds, you must first register for classes for Summer I 2014 and meet all the general requirements for receiving aid. You must be eligible for Pell and have a zero (0) Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) to be considered for SEOG. SEOG is awarded on a first come, first served basis. The funds are very limited therefore; everyone will not be awarded SEOG. The Office of Financial Aid will determine your eligibility for SEOG. Again, funds are limited, so register early. Web Registration for Summer I will open on March 24, 2014.

 

What happens if I add or drop a class after I am registered and awarded?
Your Pell award (if awarded) will be adjusted based on your enrollment. If your SEOG award is canceled for any reason (reduced credit load etc.) those funds will be awarded to other students. If you add credits later, the funds may not be available to reinstate your award. So, make sure your registration is correct because funds may no longer be available.

 

What happens if I am not eligible for Pell or SEOG?
If you are not eligible for Pell or SEOG for any reason (used all your Pell, SEOG funds are exhausted etc.) you must be prepared to pay your own registration bill for Summer I 2014. You may apply for a loan. Information about applying for a loan is on our website at www.essex.edu. We have no other funds to award for Summer I 2014.
