Live in Essex County? Then You’ve Got ECC Mail

The next edition of OPTIONS magazine will be in the mail to some 300,000 Essex County residences by early July, in time to provide key information for Essex County College’s Fall 2013 Semester.  OPTIONS, the colorful semi-annual magazine published by the Department of Marketing & Communications, provides a concise overview of the College experience through the eyes of students and alumni. In addition to articles about the benefits of a community college education, general College information on registration, financial aid, majors offered, and available support services is also included.

The OPTIONS mailing is targeted to Essex County ZIP codes that are aligned with the towns wherein the largest number of ECC’s students live. Additional packages of OPTIONS are sent to NewarkWORKS and to regional unemployment agencies.  Contracts for printing (Mignone Communications of Huntington, Indiana) and mailing (Hummel Distributing Corp. of Union) total over $83,000.  The contracts were awarded at the May board meeting.

In addition, the semi-annual Non-Credit Course Brochure from the Continuing Education & West Essex Campus area has been an ECC staple since 1981. Surveys have indicated 80 percent of non-credit students learn about the programs through the brochure, mailed prior to the Fall and Spring semesters. Graphic Image, Inc. of Milford, Connecticut will provide the printing for the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 brochures for $29,340. Each semester 200,000 brochures are printed, with 195,000 mailed throughout the county and the remainder distributed to community centers, public libraries and churches.
