General Statement

Essex County College awards scholarships to students who have demonstrated outstanding academic promise and met the criteria for scholarships, which vary in monetary value. They are awarded each academic semester.

 

Scholarships which are offered for the Spring and Summer Terms are made available only upon the approval of the President’s Office.

  • DINGLER FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
    The Dingler Foundation Scholarship was established by the Trustees of The Christian and Teresa M. Dingler Foundation. Its purpose is to provide financial assistance to promising but needy residents of Essex County who attend Essex County College.The criteria for the scholarship are as follows:

    1. For new and returning students majoring in high or medium technology Programs.
    2. Academic promise and performance. (GPA minimum of 3.0).
    3. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.
    4. Resident of Essex County.
    5. Not available to students receiving financial aid.

    The criteria for the scholarship are as follows:

    1. Encore Capital Group is seeking to award needs-based scholarships, to enrolled or entering students.
    2. The company’s global philanthropic program focuses on economic empowerment and helping consumers and communities that are most in need take control of their financial futures through better education, job training and basic support services. The Encore Capital Group Community College Scholarship fund will support the continuing education of more than 100 students in 11 states.
  • Frank Dillion PRIMERICA
    The criteria for the scholarship are as follows:

    1. Minimum GPA of 2.5 or higher
    2. Female of Hispanic descent
    3. Demonstrated financial need.
    4. Essay must include your intended area of study and career goals.
  • INTERNATIONAL STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP 
    The International Student Scholarship was established to provide a fair, equitable and competitive means for distributing college scholarship resources to foreign students.  The criteria for the scholarship are as follows:
    1. Be an F-1 visa student in good standing with the college and the U.S.
    2. Department of Immigration and Naturalization Service.
    3. Complete at least 12 credits with a grade point average of 3.0 or better.
    4. Demonstrate need for reduced tuition
    • LEO FOUNDATION

      1. Minimum GPA of 3.0 or better
      2. Enrolled in science or math degree granting program
      3. Students must have the intention to continue their education at a 4 year institution
      4. Demonstrate financial need
      5. 2 letters of recommendation (one from faculty and the other from a community leader, employer, or church leader)
  • NJ Devils
    The criteria for the scholarship are as follows:
    1. Minimum GPA 2.5 or better
    2. Demonstrate great financial need
    3. Have graduated from a NJ high school in the past 2 years
    4. Demonstrated history of community service or involvement
  • PRESIDENTIAL TUITION SCHOLARSHIP
    The Presidential Tuition Scholarship was established in August, 1979 by the President of Essex County College. Its purpose is to provide access to higher education for needy and deserving students who have demonstrated the ability to succeed academically. The scholarship has three components which are: (1) economically disadvantaged, (2) scholastic achievement, and (3) administrative. The scholarship pays the tuition for the semester or session awarded.  The criteria for the scholarship are as follows:
    1. Demonstrated academic promise and performance.
    2. (Minimum GPA of 2.0)
    3. Demonstrated financial need.
    4. Not available to students receiving financial aid.
  • Rodney Sydney Needham Memorial Scholarship
    In order to qualify for this scholarship, applicants should meet the following minimum criteria:

    1. Graduate of a New Jersey high school
    2. GPA of 3.0 or better
    3. Actively involved in community service and/or demonstration of campus
    4. Demonstrate and show great financial need
    5. Completion of 30 college level credits
  • Sarah, Earl and Donald Ryan Memorial Scholarship Memorial Scholarship Fund
    Sarah, Earl and Donald Ryan Memorial Scholarship Fund was established at Essex County College in 2001 by the trustees of a charitable trust fund of the late Donald C. Ryan. The main purpose of the scholarship is to assist financially needy students enrolled at Essex County College. In order to qualify for this scholarship, applicants should meet the following minimum criteria:

    1. Demonstrate high financial needs.
    2. Demonstrate high degree of scholastic achievement and effort.
    3. Be enrolled full time.
