Message from the Chairperson

Since its revitalization, The Essex County College Foundation (ECCF) has endeavored to attain its mission of assisting the students of Essex County College by expanding scholarship opportunities.  The Foundation has worked diligently to assist students whether they are enrolled in full- or part-time programs.

During the past two years, ECCF provided tuition assistance to over 160 students from nearly every municipality in Essex County. In addition to the Foundation’s direct funding, it has been awarded grants by The Provident Bank Foundation, the Van Houten Memorial Fund, and The Sutcliffe Foundation.  All of these grants are dedicated to tuition scholarships.

This year an additional $25,000 grant from The Provident Bank Foundation and $20,000 from The Van Houten Memorial Fund are available for distribution to our students during the current academic year.  These funds will be distributed through the Office of Student Affairs.

The Third Annual Excellent Taste at Essex was held in October 2009 as our major special event fundraiser for 2009.  All proceeds from the event will be directed to student assistance.  This year the art auction was supplemented by a silent auction that included a week at a California resort and a flat-panel television.

The downturn in the economy means that the number of students who require scholarship assistance will increase.  Despite the current economy, ECCF remains committed to using its limited resources to assist the greatest number of ECC students as possible.

We can do this with your help. Please consider a contribution to the Essex County College Foundation.  Contributions of any amount are welcome and donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
