Welcome to Essex County College's
Investiture and Convocation 2011 site.

August 29 marked the investiture of Dr. Edythe M. Abdullah as the sixth president of
Essex County College and the first woman to lead the College. The investiture ceremony
is an academic tradition which symbollically shows the transfer of the college's highest
office. Dr. Abdullah succeeded Dr. A. Zachary Yamba who retired in 2010 after a
29-year tenure as president.

The Investiture Ceremony was part of ECC's annual Convocation. As Dr. Abdullah
noted, "It is the one day each year that the college community comes together to
engage in planning so we can empower our students and excel as an institution."
