Professor Germaine Albuquerque, Assistant Professor and coordinator of Business programs in Essex County College’s (ECC) Business Division, was recently confirmed as the new president of the New Jersey Collegiate Business Administration Association (NJCBAA).


Previously, Professor Albuquerque served as NJCBAA vice president. In his acceptance speech, he thanked the organizers and past officers for their vision and dedication. He urged all members to join together in taking the organization to the next level.


The first part of the NJCBAA meeting centered on the Business Honors induction event, which was held at the State House in Trenton. Three of ECC’s Business Division students, who are part of the Class of 2018 were inducted into the Honors Society alongside students from other New Jersey two and four year colleges.


ECC’s inductees were Aubrey Melville, (GPA 4.00 in Supply Chain Management), Nayara De Assis Fortunato Agra (GPA 3.94 in Accounting), and Reyna Brito Duran (GPA 3.93 in Accounting) Another highlight of the event was ECC alumnus Imran Jaboor (Class of 2016) also being inducted into the Honors Society. He has since transferred to Caldwell University where he is a Financial Economics major with plans to pursue a law degree.


Dr. Augustine Boakye, the College’s Business Division chair who accompanied the ECC students said, “We feel extremely rewarded for what we do when some of our mentored students achieve academic excellence.”


The other Business Division faculty who participated in the program were Gerald Savage, Rachel Pernia, Jean-Wilner Alexandre, and Ekem Karl-Agbee.
