College Family Walking for a Cause – Cancer Research

The Essex County College Pacesetters will once again be lacing up their walking shoes for the annual American Cancer Society Making Strides against Breast Cancer of Newark 5K walk on Sunday, October 13.

The Pacesetters team has been participating for a number of years in this important local family event.  Check-in begins at 8 a.m., followed by the walk at 10 a.m. The walk will originate at New Jersey Devils Championship Plaza, Prudential Center, and 25 Lafayette Street in Newark.

“Together we can make a difference,” said Pacesetters team captain/coordinator Sonia Rios-Cardoso.

Donations are currently being accepted at the offices of Enrollment Services 4th Level, office of Gerald Holloway in the Gym and Xiomara Gavidia at the West Essex campus.

In addition to the donations, Ms. Rios-Cardoso said anyone can join the Pacesetters and walk on October 13. Additional information is available from Ms. Rios-Cardoso, Assistant Director of Enrollment Services, at 973-877-3155.

The team’s goal this year is to raise $2,000.

October 2 has been designated as Essex County College Wear Pink Day by the Department of Human Resources.
