Essex Students to be Inducted into NJCBAA Honor Society

Five Essex County College students are among this year’s inductees into the New Jersey Collegiate Business Administration Association (NJCBAA) Honor Society. The students will be inducted into the select organization on Friday, May 3.

The Essex honorees are Maria Laura Pita de Abreau, Carina Bontia, Angelica Peralta, Zabida Isahawk and Esma Chouguiat. Each year, the top one percent of undergraduate students from both two and four year colleges and universities pursuing degrees in business are extended an invitation to join the prestigious honor society.

“It is fitting at the end of each academic year to recognize and honor our top Business students from across New Jersey for their scholarly achievements,” said Essex County College Business Professor and NJCBAA President, Germaine Albuquerque. “The academic accomplishments of our students should warm our hearts and remind us of the excellence we have right here in the Garden State.”

The Essex students are part of the more than 100 who are being inducted into the Honor Society, with the ceremony taking place on the campus of Middlesex County College.

“We are so proud to honor this group of talented students – the top business scholars in the State of New Jersey,” said Joyce Strawser, NJCBAA Honor Society Advisor.  “To the best of our knowledge, New Jersey is the only state in which all business schools unite to recognize and celebrate their top students. This is a wonderful tradition that helps to reinforce our bonds as neighboring institutions and to advance our shared interest in strengthening business education.”

According to the NJCBAA, the association is committed to promoting and supporting students and faculty from New Jersey in the business fields. Not only do they receive an honor, but they have an opportunity to meet and develop relationships with faculty around the state.
