Course Description: This course introduces the concepts of building construction principles and processes including foundations, walls, floors and roof systems. Materials considered are wood, masonry, steel and concrete. Also discussed are site preparation and building code requirements.
Course Goals: Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to do the following:
- describe the essential elements of a building foundation;
- describe the essential elements of a building frame system; and
- prepare research reports on building and construction topics.
