Course Description:  This is the first of two design courses dealing with problems involving the elements of design: line, form, color, texture and space.  Students are introduced to various media in solving the design problems posed.

Course Goals: Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to do the following:

  1. demonstrate knowledge of straight and curved lines to create a variety of patterns;
  2. utilize various problem-solving techniques to  accurately reproduce real textures in different media;
  3. make a color wheel with tints and shades by mixing red, yellow, blue, black and white; and
  4. produce a portfolio of design projects.
