Course Description: This is the first of two design courses dealing with problems involving the elements of design: line, form, color, texture and space. Students are introduced to various media in solving the design problems posed.

- demonstrate knowledge of straight and curved lines to create a variety of patterns;
- utilize various problem-solving techniques to accurately reproduce real textures in different media;
- make a color wheel with tints and shades by mixing red, yellow, blue, black and white; and
- produce a portfolio of design projects.
