Course Description: This is the final course in the electronics sequence. Topics covered include modulation and demodulation for AM, FM, PM, and TV. Transmitters, receivers, and transmission characteristics are studied. Concepts of information theory, waveform analysis, and noise are introduced.
Course Goals: Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to do the following:
- explain the principles of electronic communications including AM and FM generation and detection;
- define and use correctly ‘communications systems’ technical vocabulary; and
- identify, analyze, and solve technical problems in communication systems.
