Course Description:  This course is designed to satisfy the educational requirement for licensure as a Fire Protection Inspector HHS.  It provides the background technical and administrative knowledge to needed to effectively enforce the Uniform Construction Code as applied to hazardous and high-rise structures at the local level.

<!–Course Goals:  Upon successful completion of this course, students should be able to do the following:

  1. discuss code requirements related to fire divisions in a building exceeding the height and area                  limitation established in the code for certain combinations of use and construction types such as regional shopping malls and high-rise construction;
  2. identify and discuss requirements related to unlimited area building design codes and apply methods needed to ensure that fire protection elements of unlimited area buildings depicted on plans conform to code requirements; and
  3. discuss material requirements established by the code as adopted by the IBC and UCC for testing laboratories, identify and discuss test methods, and examine and interpret test reports for both active and passive fire protection requirements of systems in class I, II, and III structures.
