Why major in Renewable Energy Technology?
This certificate provides the knowledge and skills required for positions involving the integration of renewable energy applications in a variety of business and industrial environments. The certificate focuses on a “holistic” approach, emphasizing the importance of scientific principles coupled with industrial processes, professional proficiencies, and practical laboratory experiences.

Are there any requirements I must satisfy before I start taking courses in my major?
Based on your placement test scores, you may have to take developmental courses in reading, English, and/or mathematics before taking the core curriculum courses in your major.
How long will it take for me to complete this program?
If you do not need developmental course work and you register for an average of 15 credits each semester, you can complete the certificate of completion in two semesters. Part-time students can complete the program in two years.

Upon completion of this program, graduates will be able to:

Discuss current alternatives to fossil fuel including the impact each has on the environment;

Solve basic heating and cooling load problems such as calculating R-values and quantifying overall building thermal performance;

Conduct a site assessment for solar PV installation and select an appropriate systems design to ensure all codes and standards are followed; and

Demonstrate appropriate oral and written communication skills and professional behaviors, which include being able to effectively work as a member of a team.
