Sofia Medina (on left below) and Josef LoCascio will represent the College on the All-New Jersey Academic Team, the step toward selection on the All-USA Academic Team. The students will be formally recognized May 1, 2014 in Trenton at the annual Phi Theta Kappa Day ceremony.

Sofia, of Bayonne, carries a 3.96 grade point average as a Biology, Pre-Medicine major. After she graduates with her Associate degree, she plans to pursue a dual degree in medicine (pediatric oncology) and public health.

Josef, a Nutley resident, has a perfect 4.0 grade point average in Liberal Arts. His goal is to become an English professor.

Both students are enrolled in ECC’s rigorous Honors Program.

Phi Theta Kappa Day is hosted by the New Jersey Council of County Colleges, and co-sponsored by PTK, the Coca-Cola Foundation, and the New Jersey Education Association.
