Track standout O’Jay Ferguson has signed a letter of intent to attend Texas A&M University this fall, where he will continue both his education and athletic career. The 20-year-old sophomore is a sprinter for the highly regarded ECC track team and will concentrate on the 400 meters at A&M.
O’Jay was born in Jamaica and grew up in the Bahamas. It was there that he met Demetrius Pinder, an ECC alumnus (Class of 2009) who won a Gold Medal at the 2012 Summer Olympics while running for the Bahamas in the 4×400 meter relay.
O’Jay already has the 2016 Summer Olympics as one of his goals, along with winning Southeast Conference and NCAA 400 meter titles. A Liberal Arts major at Essex, he plans to major in Business Administration at A&M with a career goal of developing his own clothing line.
