With a March 31 enrollment deadline looming, students can sign up for healthcare through the federal Affordable Care Act right on the Newark campus March 17 and March 18. West Essex students will be able to register on campus March 18. The event is hosted by the Office of the President and the Urban Issues Institute (UII), in conjunction with the Urban League of Hudson County and Enroll America.
The informational and signup tables will be located on the 2nd level Forum from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 17 and 4 to 8 p.m. March 19. The WEC hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. U.S. Congressman Donald Payne, Jr. is scheduled to visit the campus during the signups.
“Of college students who were interviewed, 60% of those who had to drop out said having insurance would have made a significant difference in their decision,” said ECC President Gale E. Gibson.
“We encourage each and every potentially eligible student to do the research, see if they qualify and, if so, to enroll,” said UII Director Margaret Stevens.
