The designation came for ECC’s Alpha Theta Theta Chapter during the PTK Middle States Convention March 7-8.

“This is wonderful news and a real tribute to the mentorship of our faculty and staff,” said President Dr. Gale E. Gibson. The co-advisors are Biology Instructor Lynn Wilson, English Instructor Sean O’Connell and Biology Professor Jeffrey Lee.

Other awards picked up by Essex included: Distinguished Chapter Award; Distinguished Officer Team Awards; two Distinguished Officer Awards; President Luis Rivera-Correa and Treasurer Ton Duong; Distinguished Member Award: Bryan Velasco, and the Spirit Award.

The Spirit Award was choreographed by Ton and Catarina Ribiero was the lead singer.

The chapter will attend the Phi Theta Kappa International Convention from April 24 – 26 in Orlando, Florida.
