As part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month, the Essex County College Community, Continuing Education & Workforce Development Office will host its annual Community Resource Fair on Wednesday, April 19 at the College’s Newark campus. The resource fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the 2nd Level Forum.
The College’s Parenting Program is working closely with the New Jersey Department of Children & Families – Division of Child Protection & Permanency, along with the City of Newark in presenting the resource fair. The resource fair is free and open to the public.
“It’s extremely important that we get the word out about this terrible problem,” said Parenting Skills Program Coordinator Elizabeth Ramirez-Vazquez. “Unfortunately, child abuse is a real problem.” She added the information distributed at the resource fair is designed to help address this continuing problem.
In addition to the Parenting Program, some of the other agencies expected to be in attendance include the state Division of Child Protection & Permanency, the Newark Department of Health & Community Welfare, the New Community Corporation, The Salvation Army and the FOCUS Hispanic Center for Community Development in Newark.
