The two-day Guest Services Open House Essex County College’s Training, Inc. hosted for the Prudential Center in August resulted in 60 new hires for the entertainment facility.
“We are so pleased with the successful partnership between Essex County College and the Prudential Center,” said Cathy Skelley, Marketing Outreach Coordinator for Training, Inc. She added that it was particularly gratifying that Prudential ended up hiring 68 new staffers in total.
The Guest Services Open House was held August 7 and 8. The available positions were part-time, starting out as usher/ticket takers, the openings could lead to full time jobs later.
“This is another excellent example of the College building relationships in both the city and county,” said Sanghamitra Choudhury, Director of Training, Inc., Essex’s department working with Prudential. “We are continuing to provide platforms for people to get jobs,” she added.
Prudential spokesman Daniel Malandruccolo noted that the College did an excellent job in preparing the applicants through its pre-screening process.
“We saw some of the most qualified and energetic candidates at Essex that we have seen in a while,” said Brittanie Boyd, also from Prudential.
Training, Inc.’s Lina Hollman said a key component of the program was the job tips portion, which the applicants can use not just for this event but also for subsequent interviews.
