UPDATE: COLLEGE CLOSED March 5, 2015

Because of the unpredictable nature of the storm, Essex will be closed all day today, Thursday, March 5th. This action is taken based on new information from the National Weather Service about the pending snow storm and because Governor Christies has declared a weather “State of Emergency.” Please stay off the roads and stay safe.

 

Weather related actions are always posted on the home page of the College’s website, our FaceBook and Twitter accounts and sent to local news media who report on school closings.

 

All classes are suspended today.

 

In order to stay informed with future weather emergency announcements through the College’s Emergency Alert System (EAS), please register via the “My ECC” portal at: https://eccportaltier.essex.edu/portal/page/portal/ESXC/Login.

 

In addition, to access the “My ECC” portal, you should use the following browsers, because this information is not supported on Firefox or Chrome:

Delayed Opening: March 5, 2015

Campus Emergency Notification System

Essex County College has a Campus Emergency Notification System. Be notified in a campus emergency! Enter your contact information today for free text alerts. Use your email address as username and choose a password that you will remember.  To sign-up, log onto the MyECC portal at: http://myecc.essex.edu.  Enter you area code, then your 7-digit cell phone number.

  • Select your cell phone provider from the drop down menu.
  • Select subscribe.
  • Then click the submit button.

Inclement weather closure and delay notices may also be posted on the Emergency Notification System. Additionally, the college issues information via email networks to the college community and the college’s public address system. Department emergency telephone communication chains, direct notification by college personnel, activation of alarm systems and posting of notices are other means of communications which the college may use in an emergency.

 

Emergency information or instructions are communicated to the college community through a variety of mechanisms. Please familiarize yourself with these communication methods and utilize them to acquire information and instructions in the event of an emergency.
