2014 Junior Academy Week – Our 10th Year!

The Essex County College Police Academy is proud to announce the Tenth Anniversary of our one-week, full day Junior Academy for children ages 13 through 16. As part of the program, the Academy attendees will be provided one t-shirt per child, and a water bottle.
Additional shirts may be pre-ordered through the Academy at a cost of $10 each.
Each child must bring a brown bag lunch and drink. Refrigerator and microwave are available for lunch usage.
The Junior Academy will consist of a field trip, lectures, presentations, and hands-on activities. There will also be a physical training component.
The Junior Academy training curriculum may include areas such as:
- General Educational and Other Requirements to Become a Law Enforcement Officer
- Juvenile Justice System
- Fingerprinting and Identification
- K-9 and Bomb (may include demonstrations with dogs and the Bomb Robot)
- Gang Awareness and Identification
- Drug Awareness
- Internet Safety
- Arson and Fire Safety
- First Aid
- Crime Scenes
- Unarmed Self Defense
- Driving Simulator
- FATS (Firearms Training Simulator)
Junior trainees will participate in squad formation, roll-call, and drill ceremonies each day, along with lectures, activities, and physical training.
Each successful Academy graduate will receive a certificate of completion on the last day of class during our pizza party.
|Week of July 14 – 18, 2014 (5 days)|
|$110.00 per child.
Class will be limited to 40 children.
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.

|8:00am – 4:00 pm.
Supervised drop-off: 8:00 – 8:30 am;
Pickup time: 3:30 – 4:00 pm
