English as a Second Language (ESL)

Essex County College provides non-native English speakers with the opportunity to learn English through courses and programs that best suit the adult learner’s individual educational needs. Whether you are interested in improving your English skills for personal enrichment, to upgrade employment opportunities, or to earn an Associate Degree, you will find that our courses and programs are a perfect fit.

We have classes for all levels of English language learners, from basic proficiency to advanced reading, writing, speaking, and listening. These courses are built to put students on the path to being fluent users of the English language.

ECC MAIN CAMPUS PROGRAMS

We offer non-credit enrichment courses for non-native English speakers who are interested in improving their language skills. Basic proficiency to advanced levels are offered. Courses are affordable, taught by highly-qualified and experienced instructors, short-term and offered consecutively throughout the year.

EXTENSION CENTER PROGRAMS

we offer credit and non-credit enrichment courses, workshops, and seminars at two convenient locations in Essex County. The College’s two major extension sites are FOCUS and IRONBOUND Extension Centers. Multilingual Programs offered at these two sites attract a large number of students who wish to learn English and/or earn an Associate Degree.
