Applications Available for Essex County College’s EOF Program
The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program at Essex County College has enabled over 1,000 students annually to continue their education through a wide array of services.
Established when the College opened its doors in 1968, the EOF program is for fulltime ECC students receiving financial aid. Through EOF, students can receive another $625 per semester in support, said Dr. Elvy Vieira, Dean of Community, Continuing Education & Workforce Development.
“At times of financial crises such as now with the COVID-19 pandemic, the support our EOF program can provide students allows them to remain in college and work toward their goals and dreams,” said Dr. Vieira.
She said the program also provides participants with advisement, counseling, and workshops to address both their academic and non-academic needs and concerns.
“We are very proud that our EOF program is the largest among all New Jersey community colleges,” said ECC President Dr. Augustine Boakye. “And it’s successful in its mission. Each year, EOF students are among our highest achieving graduates, going on to top four year institutions,” he added.
The EOF program receives funding support from the Office of the New Jersey Secretary of Higher Education.
Dr. Vieira said there is time for students to apply to the EOF program prior to the start of the fall 2020 semester on August 31. To be eligible, students must be fulltime, satisfy income verification and have been a New Jersey resident for at least one year.
