Get Ready for Winter Intersession

When Fall semester classes end, the time is right to take one or more three-credit courses before the Spring semester begins. That’s the idea behind Winter Intersession at Essex County College.

Winter Intersession classes begin Monday, December 21, 2020 and run through Thursday, January 14, 2021. All classes will be held in a virtual format with live Zoom lectures. Each class is 2 hours, 40 minutes in length. Classes are offered in the morning, afternoon and evening, with students being able to register for up to two courses.

“You have the opportunity to choose from a variety of classes to help get a jump start on graduating early by taking just 15 days to earn three credits,” said Dr. Leigh M. Bello-de Castro, Associate Dean for West Essex Campus and Online Education. She added that many of the courses satisfy general education requirements, no matter if you are an Essex student or attend another college or university on holiday break.

Online registration for Winter Intersession begin November 2. Registration information and the full schedule of classes and times offered can be found at:

“We hope many of our students take advantage of Winter Intersession. This is just one way we are assisting students toward earning their degree in a timely fashion,” said ECC Interim President Dr. Augustine Boakye.

Winter Intersession is a popular among college students. The compressed nature of the courses enables students to quickly earn credits, many times in a required class. That can result in savings, both in money and time, for students as they move toward graduation.

Essex is offering Winter Intersession classes in such areas as English, history, business, sociology, art and music.
