Get Ready for Winter Intersession at Essex County College

When Fall semester classes end, the time is right to take one or more three-credit courses before the Spring semester begins. That’s the idea behind Winter Intersession at Essex County College.

Winter Intersession classes begin Thursday, January 2, 2020 and run through Wednesday, January 15, 2020. All classes, held at the Newark campus, are four hours in length. Classes are offered in the morning, afternoon and evening, with students being able to register for up to two courses.

“You have the opportunity to choose from a variety of classes to help you get a jump on graduating a little bit sooner by taking just 10 days to earn three credits,” said Dr. Leigh M. Bello-de Castro, Associate Dean for West Essex Campus and Online Education. She added that many of the courses satisfy general education requirements, no matter if you are an Essex student or attend another college or university and are home for the holiday break.

Online registration for Winter Intersession begins November 25. Registration information and the full schedule of classes and times offered at the College’s Newark campus can be found at:

Winter Intersession is becoming a popular trend nation-wide among college students. The compressed nature of the courses enables students to quickly earn credits, many times in a required class. That can result in savings, both in money and time, for students as they move toward graduation.

Essex is offering Winter Intersession classes in such areas as English, history, business, sociology, art and music.
