ECC Secures $360K Grant for Cable Installer Program

NEWARK, N.J. – Essex County College has secured a $360,000 Pre-Apprenticeship in Career Education (PACE) grant from the New Jersey Department of Labor to support its Low Voltage Cable Installer Program.

Essex County College leadership and partners at NJDOL PACE Grant Partner Kick-Off for Low Voltage Cable Installer Program, March 2026.

Administered by Training Inc., a division of Community, Continuing Education & Workforce Development, the program prepares participants for careers in broadband installation and network infrastructure – fields experiencing sustained demand across New Jersey.

College leadership, workforce development staff and industry partners gathered this week to recognize the launch of the grant-supported initiative. Partners include Ramp Up, James Walker, Nettarius Derrick of Law Avatar Tech and Garth Naar.

The program marks ECC’s second PACE-funded effort in the broadband space and reflects the college’s continued focus on industry-aligned training that connects residents to in-demand careers.
