Why ECC?
NEWARK, N.J.- Essex County College is kicking off the fall semester by welcoming thousands of new students and their families through dynamic New Student Orientation programs designed to support academic and social success.
These engaging events are scheduled to take place on:
Through tours, “icebreakers,” and student-led conversations, new first-year and transfer students will have the opportunity to make connections with current students, faculty, advisors, and staff before the start of classes. Along with group talks, participants will also receive a wealth of information about their academic programs, financial aid, extracurricular activities, and student services.
“We are excited to welcome a brand-new class of Wolverines to ECC, where our New Student Orientation will lay the foundation for students to flourish academically, engage socially, and grow personally,” said Dr. Renee Ojo-Ohikuare, Executive Director in the Office of Enrollment Management and Services. “We’re committed to ensuring every student’s success as they bring their unique energy and gifts to our proud institution.”
Each year, ECC attracts thousands of individuals seeking a better life through education. As an open-access college dedicated to academic excellence, the College remains focused on meeting the evolving needs of its students and their families—an approach echoed by staff across the institution.
“Our orientation sessions not only provide students with the critical resources they’ll need on this journey, but also help foster a genuine sense of belonging,” said Anika Good, Director of Recruitment and Retention. “Being part of that experience is incredibly rewarding—and that’s why we approach these events with such care and enthusiasm.”
Students and their families are encouraged to attend and take full advantage of this valuable introduction to life at ECC. For more information or to register, please visit essex.edu/nso/ or contact [email protected] with any questions or concerns.
