Students and Employers Come Together at ECC Spring Job Fair

Newark, N.J. – Essex County College’s most recent job and internship fair was widely regarded as a success by both employers and attendees who participated in the event on Wednesday, April 9.

Twenty-six companies took part, including the New York State Police, Wakefern Food Corp. and Rutgers University Police Department. Community organizations such as the Boys & Girls Club of Newark, Horizon Healthcare Staffing and the YMCA of Montclair were also represented.

Held at the 2nd Floor Forum, the event drew a steady stream of students, faculty and staff.

“Many students attended, and some professors even brought their classes to the event,” said Shirlgandy SaintJean, assistant director of Career and Transfer Services at ECC. “We want to empower our students and prepare them to enter the workforce or transition to higher positions.”

She added: “This job and internship fair helps students discover potential career paths and gain exposure to various industries and roles. We’ve received great feedback from both students and employers.”

Additional participating employers included Pillar Care Continuum, Integrity House, Imagine Early Learning Centers, Child Care Careers, JCT Solutions, The Arc of Essex County, Faith Home Healthcare, Essex Regional Educational Services Commission and the Delaware State Police. Industries ranged from health care and education to public safety, technology and social services.

“The Career Resource Center looks forward to continuing to collaborate with external employers to support students seeking paid internship and employment opportunities,” SaintJean said.
