College Offers Summer Camp for Future College Students

Rising high school juniors and seniors can earn college credits at Essex County College’s Summer Camp 2020. The online program runs from July 6 to August 14.

“The program is for those students interested in college after graduating high school, said Dr. Elvy Vieira, Dean of ECC’s Office of Community, Continuing Education & Workforce Development. The program is offered free through funding from the state Office of Higher Education and the New Jersey Council of County Colleges as part of the state’s College Readiness Now VI, she said.

“Our High School Initiatives program provides future college students with a foundation to better succeed at the next level of their education,” said ECC’s President, Dr. Anthony E. Munroe.

Participants will be able to take 6 college credits from out of College Success Seminar, English Foundations, English Composition and Effective Speech. Also available is a math refresher course for College Readiness.

Students will also learn computer apps and platforms for developing online academic skills.

Dr. Vieira said the courses will all be taught remotely by ECC faculty.
