Essex County College 2023 Calendar Year

BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING SCHEDULE

The Open Public Meetings Act of the State of New Jersey (1975 N.J. Laws, Chapter 231) requires the notice of Public Meetings for each calendar year.  The Essex County College Board of Trustees’ Public Meetings for calendar year 2023 will take place at 4:30 pm on the third or fourth Tuesday of the month with the exception of December which will be held on the second Tuesday. In accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act (P.L. 2020 c. 11) and Board Policy 1-1, the Public is hereby invited to attend the meetings:  1) virtually via Zoom as indicated below; or, 2) when practicable, in person at Essex County College in Smith Hall, 303 University Avenue, Newark, NJ. (All College infectious disease protocols will be followed.).

Please note:  Meetings will be conducted virtually January through March 2023; in a hybrid format (virtually and in person) April through June 2023; and in person, September through December 2023.

Public meeting agendas and actions will be posted on the College website no later than 48 hours prior to each regularly scheduled meeting. 

Public comments on actions to be approved may be e-mailed to [email protected]; general public comments may be e-mailed to [email protected].  Written comments must be received prior to noon on the meeting date in order to be read into the record of the meeting.  Please include your name and contact information. Comments will be entertained during meetings in the following order and in the following manner depending on the type of meeting:  1) written comments submitted by email (virtual and hybrid only);  2) Summarized duplicative written comments submitted by email (virtual and hybrid only);  3) In-person oral comments (in person and hybrid only); and, 4) Remote Oral Comments (hybrid only).  Public comments, whether written or oral, are limited to three (3) minutes.

Additionally, in accordance with the Open Public Meetings Act of the State of New Jersey a public body is permitted to exclude the public from that portion of a meeting at which certain topics are discussed, the Board of Trustees of Essex County College shall hold prior to all Public meetings an Executive Session for discussion, the general nature of which includes, but is not limited to Collective Bargaining Agreements, Pending and Existing Contracts, Litigation, and Personnel Matters.  The discussion of said topics shall be disclosed to the public as soon as reasonable and practicable, bearing in mind the particular subject matter involved.
