Essex County College is now partnering with Redshelf to provide digital course materials to our students. The digital format of your textbook will be available in Moodle or sent to your Essex email 7 days prior to the start of the course. Your instructor will guide you on how to access your material properly.

You can choose to OPT out of the digital products and the fee/s will be removed from your tuition account.  However, you will be responsible for securing books for all classes.

Before opting out, you should contact your Professor/s as most of them require the use of assignments, labs, tests, quizzes, etc. digital etext materials.

To OPT Out of the digital product course fee for ALL courses, please follow these instructions.

  1. Click the RedShelf tool in your Learning Management System (LMS).
  2. Navigate to RedShelf Course Materials > My Courses.
  3. Click on any course and view the blue banner for your opting status.

Follow the instructions on the box that pops up to complete the opt-out process.

  • Spring l – January 17, 2024
  • Ironbound/FOCUS – February 6, 2024
  • Spring II Second Session – February 20, 2024
  • PTRM W:   LPN 101/ 102 – January 15, 2024
  • PTRM W1:  LPN 101/ 102 – April 24, 2024

Summer I 2024 Semester:

  • May 13, 2024

Summer II 2024 Semester:

  • July 11, 2024

Fall 2024 Semesters:

  • Fall I – September 3, 2024
  • Fall Weekend – September 6, 2024
  • Fall II Late Start – October 7, 2024
  • LPN 102 – December 9, 2024
  • LPN 104/105 – September 27, 2024

Spring 2025 Semesters:

  • Spring l – January 21, 2025
  • Spring Weekend – January 21, 2025
  • FOCUS Extension Center – February 10, 2025
  • Spring II Second Session – February 18, 2025
