Admission

Student Life & Activities will be accepting Scholarship Applications for Students who will be taking courses during the Fall 2025 Semester. The scholarship period will be open in July 2025.

You must submit a physical copy of your scholarship applications and all required documentation to Jamil Graham, Director of Student Life & Activities, in the Dasher Center Room 107A or Samirah Scantling, Administrative Assistant, Room 101B

New students are eligible to apply for the Academic Engagement Scholarship listed below.

Spring 2025 Returning Students Scholarships Criteria

Academic Engagement Scholarship

  • 3.0 G.P.A or better 
  • New or Returning Student (New students must submit a copy of their High School Transcript) 
  • Demonstrate financial need 
  • Active in campus activities and/or community service 

Connie Woodruff Memorial Scholarship 

  • Enrolled in Essex County College’s Nursing program 
  • Single mother 
  • Resident of Newark 
  • Demonstrated academic promise and performance 
  • Must exemplify perseverance and success through personal challenges 

Frank Dillon PRIMERICA Scholarship 

  • Must be a Latino student
  • GPA of a 2.5 or higher 
  • Demonstrate financial need 

Leo Foundation Scholarship 

  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 or better 
  • Enrolled in science or math program 
  • Demonstrate financial need 
  • 1 recommendation must be from faculty and 1 recommendation from a community leader/employer/church 

Presidential Scholarship 

  • Demonstrated scholastic achievement 
  • Demonstrated community or college involvement 
  • Demonstrate financial need 

Student Affairs College Success Scholarship 

  • Have a minimum 2.0 GPA 
  • Be registered full-time or part-time for the semester the scholarship is offered 
  • Be able to demonstrate current financial need 
  • Must have completed FAFSA for the current academic year 

Vision Care Technology Scholarship 

  • Open to high school seniors who show an interest in eyecare and the optical industry or current ECC Vision Care Technology majors. 
  • Minimum 2.75 GPA 
  • Must me enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours 
  • Must demonstrate financial need, as determined by completed FAFSA (you must have completed a FAFSA application for the current year) 
  • 1 letter of recommendation is required 

Yadav Scholarship 

  • Majoring in the Mathematics or STEM 
  • Maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA 
  • Exhibiting financial need 
  • 1 letter of recommendation is required 

Applications that do not meet the criteria will not be considered.

Applications require 1 letter of recommendation, with the exception of the Leo Foundation Scholarship which requires 2 letters of recommendation.
