Qualifications and minimal educational requirements for each employment category are
outlined below. With the exception of adjunct faculty and those who are otherwise exempt,
under the New Jersey First Act, new hires will be required to establish principal residency
in the State of New Jersey within 365 days from the date of hire

Employment Qualifications by Classification

Administrators typically provide services during the daytime, evenings and weekends as needed, and work a 35 hour work week. Administrative employees may be employed in confidential or non-confidential capacities.

Minimum Educational Requirements

  • Master’s degree

Minimum Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and manage competing priorities in a complex setting
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse academic, staff, and student populations as well as external constituents
  • Knowledge of the use of database management, word processing, spreadsheet, and/or presentation software
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of college administration, policies and procedures, preferably at the community college level.
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment

Desirable Qualifications

  • Five to ten years of progressive managerial responsibility.
  • Proven ability to effectuate change and innovatively initiate new programs and approaches.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of computerized records maintenance and management, preferably the Banner System
  • Experience in the administration of instructional and community related programs preferably at the community college level.

Individuals employed as full-time instructional staff are classified as Faculty. Faculty may be eligible for tenure in the academic ranks of Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor or Instructor. Non-teaching Faculty or Lecturers are assigned on a 12 month contract. Teaching Faculty are expected to work a minimum of 15 contract hours in the Fall and Spring semesters.

Our Security and Campus Police provide around-the-clock security and protection for the College. Police are employed to provide coverage for a specific shift (i.e. first, second, third or swing) and are required to work a 40 hour work week.

Third Shift3:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.

Minimum Educational Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • New Jersey Police Training Commission (PTC) Certification

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Valid NJ driver’s license
  • Must qualify for an approved firearm
  • Ability to pass extensive background investigation
  • Ability to pass physical examination requirements
  • Must have a clean police record including a successful fingerprint/records check
  • Not have been convicted or pleaded guilty to any federal or state felony charge, or city ordinances relating to force, violence, theft, gambling or controlled dangerous substances
  • Maintain responsibilities in spite of inclement weather and other similar factors
  • Report to work on occasions of school closing due to such events, unless otherwise notified
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment

Professional positions are assigned by grade levels ranging from Level I through Level IV. Professional employees may be employed in confidential or non-confidential capacities.

  • Bachelor’s degree (Professional Level II and above)

Desirable Qualifications

Facilities employees are employed to provide service for a specific shift (i.e., first, second, third or swing) and are required to work a 40 hour work week.

Qualifications for Facilities Support Staff

  • Trade certification required for select positions
  • Demonstrated ability to climb ladders and scaffolds
  • Ability to routinely lift, push or pull up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to read general operating instructions and to write simple reports
  • Ability to pass physical examination requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
