In-Person Registration for Fall Semester Starts September 2

In-person registration for ECC’s Fall 2008 Semester will be held September 2-5 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on both the main Newark and West Essex campuses.    Classes for the fall semester start September 8 and end December 19.

Late registration for the fall semester classes will follow September 8-12 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., also on both campuses. Web registration is ongoing through September 12.  Transfer students must have received transfer credit for mathematics and English; otherwise, they must take the placement test which will be scheduled as needed.

U.S. Attorney Christie to Address Police Academy Grads

           
 United States Attorney Christopher J. Christie will deliver the keynote address September 10 to the graduates of the Essex County College Police Academy Class 08-1.

 Christie, who has been the United States Attorney for the District of New Jersey since January of 2002, will speak to the 39 members of the graduating class, and their families and friends at 7 p.m. The graduation ceremony will take place in the college’s Physical Education Building on the Newark campus.

ECC Holds Annual Day of Remembrance for Sept. 11

     The college will mark the anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy with its annual Day of Remembrance on September 11.

     The seventh annual memorial ceremony will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the courtyard on the main Newark campus. A minute of silence will be observed at 8:46 a.m., the time the first high jacked plane struck the World Trade Center in 2001. That will be followed by the tolling of bells.

Melaine Walker, ECC Class of 2004, struck gold, winning the 400 meter hurdles for Jamaica in the Olympic record time of 52.64 seconds. An eight time All American at Essex, Melaine led a contingent of 11 former ECC student-athletes who participated in the XXIX Summer Olympics.
